What is your New Years resolution? Mine is to finally start loving myself and excepting who I am. I am extremely open about dealing with depression my whole life, which has really altered the way I feel about myself. Anyone that struggles with it understands the daily pain. I use to wake up wishing I could be absolutely anyone other then myself. I would literally look in the mirror for hours picking apart everything I hated about myself. Social media makes things 10x worse these days. Everyone wants to look like a Kardashian- curvy body, tan skin, long dark hair. I told myself I wouldn’t let society’s standards of beauty get to me, but of course when your submerged in it every single day, eventually it does. It’s frustrating when people say “why do you feel that way you’re pretty, or you’re this, or you’re that”. Don’t you think if I couldn’t feel this way, I wouldn’t? Anyone can tell you your pretty.. but it really doesn’t matter, because at the end of the day it’s how you feel about yourself. We all seek approval from others, especially today through the internet. We hope tare get a ton of likes and comments from strangers complimenting us. Maybe it makes you feel happy and good about yourself for a second, but if you feel shitty about yourself in general, someone saying your pretty isn’t going to change the way you truly feel inside. I know this post is long, but I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching since the new year, and want to help anyone out there that struggles with the same things I do. I didn’t make this post to get any gratification from anyone, just to simply let anyone struggling with their self imagine and who they are know that they are not alone, and it DOES get better. Realizing that no matter how much I wanna look like a Kardashian, any celebrity, or that so called “perfect” Instagram model, I will NEVER look like them no matter how much I try. Why? Because I’m not them and will never be. I am ME, and always will be. It’s that simple. If I can change my thinking around, I promise you can too!!! #SelfLove #PracticeMakesPerfect #LiveYourLife #YouOnlyGotOne
